ʻUlu Agroforestry Series: Silvopasture & Riparian Buffer Systems

In this video, we discuss the benefits and challenges of two types of agroforestry – Riparian Buffers and Silvopasture – using ʻulu in Hawaiʻi.

Learn about how ʻulu as a Riparian Buffer crop can be installed adjacent to streams or other bodies of water to provide important protection to aquatic ecosystems and soil retention services.

Implementing silvopasture, the integration of grazing animals in your orchard, can improve the health of your soil while providing short- and long-term income sources and decrease weed management.

Check out Hawaiʻi ʻUlu Coopʻs ʻUlu Agroforestry in Hawaiʻi Guide for more information on these and other agroforestry practices!
