Fiona Rowles
Fiona is our Facility Manager in Hilo. She helps with the intake of delivered crops to the Hilo facility, as well as the production of our flour products. She manages inventory including keeping supplies stocked, coordinating pickups and deliveries, fulfilling local customer orders, and maintaining food safety compliance.
Before the Cooperative
Fiona worked above the Arctic Circle for two years, and spent a year in Antarctica before deciding that she never wanted to be cold again! She recently received her master’s degree in Natural Resources Management from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, where she focused on training students and professionals to effectively translate climate science into policy. From 2017 to 2019, Fiona was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malawi, where she worked with the Malawian Forestry Department on agricultural and reforestation projects. She moved to the Big Island in 2020 to help develop her friend’s farm.
Fiona‘s favorite part of being an HUC’s team member
I really like being part of an organization that effectively strengthens the availability and accessibility of local foods.
