Management Schedule
Labor Assumptions
Years 1-3: Require an average of at least 250 hours per year, for 5 acres. Installation phase.
Years 3-10: Required management hours gradually increase to 1,250 hours per year. This averages out to 24 hours per week, over 52 weeks, however: the bulk of these hours (around half) will take place during the harvest season. If a harvest season is 16 weeks long and necessitates 688 hours, this is 1 FTE (full-time-equivalent) job at around 43 hours per week. Efficiencies in harvest will drive profitability and general satisfaction.
Significant off-season management tasks include pruning and general fertility management: compost, fertilizing, foliar analyses, pest management, weeding etc.
