Dana Shapiro

Dana Shapiro is co-founder and CEO of the Hawaiʻi ʻUlu Cooperative (HUC). Originally from a kibbutz or small cooperative farming community in northern Israel, Dana has a B.Sc. in natural resource management from Cornell University and a M.Sc. in cooperative business development from Ben Gurion University, specializing in organizational adaptive capacity. She has led HUC since its inception in 2016 to become one of the largest co-ops in Hawaiʻi and the leading breadfruit farmer organization.

Before the Cooperative
Dana is originally from a small cooperative farming community in northern Israel. She has a BSc in Natural Resources from Cornell University and a MSc in cooperative business development from Ben Gurion University, specializing in organizational adaptive capacity. Prior to founding HUC in 2016, Dana worked as a freelance rural and cooperative business development consultant in Hawaiʻi, supporting the formation and growth of numerous organizations on Hawaiʻi Island and Maui.
